Chess Winners!

How do we engage students in learning the day before spring break? How about leveling up critical thinking with a round robin chess tournament? Playing chess not only strengthens analytical skills, improves memory, and stimulates creative thinking, but also helps build confidence.

Edison students competed in their first annual chess tournament March 21, 2025. Peirce Bassett took 1st place 7-0. Kimzie Emerling came in 2nd place with 5 wins and Autumn Lindt, in a grueling last match, took 3rd place, with 4.5 wins.

The other tournament participants were Genesse Domínguez-Garcia, Alex Converse, Daniel Steele, Shannon Hudson and Ashton Converse.

Edison is hoping to build a chess team next year and compete in the 2024 Colorado State Scholastic Chess Championship.
