Text Box: OUR LITERACY topic this week was “African American Inventors”.   We learned about Benjamin Banneker, who invented the first clock ever made in North America.  Sarah E. Goode was the first African-American woman to receive a patent for an invention.  George Washington Carver invented many things from sweet potatoes and peanuts.  Patricia Bath was the first African-American woman to receive a patent for a medical invention.  Our vocabulary words were:  allowed, design, instrument, invented, powerful, and products .  Our leveled readers were of the informational nonfiction genre.
Text Box: IN MATH we continue to practice two-digit addition as well as math family facts up to 20.   We are also practicing “Trade First” in two-digit subtraction.  In our day, we called it “borrowing” :).
