Edison’s secondary consists of grades six through twelve. The middle school enrollment is currently 22 students with 6 students in sixth grade, 7 students in seventh grade and 9 students in the eighth grade. High school has a current enrollment of 28 students with 8 seniors, 6 juniors, 9 sophomores and 5 freshmen. Students at Edison work in their core curriculum courses and are able to select from a wide variety of elective courses: shop, art, music, band, computer productions, health, and on-line courses. New classes available to Edison students this year are: Spanish (at the middle school and high school level), psychology, and chemistry. Secondary students are able to participate in sports and many extracurricular activities. They are fortunate to have a lot of teacher to student interaction with the smaller class sizes. Edison On-Line Academy Edison Academy is the name of the district on-line program. We offer classes for grades 6 through 12 in this school. We use a three-tiered system as the basis for the curriculum that we offer. Most new students are placed in the first level, which is a self-paced combination of Plato and A+ curricula. Each student receives an independent program to meet his or her needs. We require twenty hours of on-line work on assigned classes. Grades and credit are determined by the teacher acting in conjunction with the principal. The second tier of curriculum is a combination of Plato and A+ and classes from Colorado On-line. These courses are much more challenging in nature. We consider them enrichment or honors courses because of their difficulty. These classes have a teacher who assigns course work and a grade for the course.
