· Enjoyed making special treasures and performing for our beloved parents at the Parents Tea
Kindergarten:
· Completed the MAPS assessment for reading and math
· Wrote and drew in our journals daily
· Read and acted out a Chinese folk tale titled “Ma Lien and the Magic Brush”
· Reading comprehension and retelling: Warthogs Paint; Can You See It?; Art by Anne; My Pet and Me; Where Is My Pup?; Zip? Zig Zag? Yes!; “Children in Paintings”
· Phonemic awareness/phonics: phoneme blending, isolation and substitution, /y/, /z/
· High frequency words: me, where
· Writing: a chart, sentences, a greeting card

· Learned about the life cycle and body parts of dragonflies
· Math: generated equivalent names for numbers, made number collection posters, used related pairs of numbers to identify function rules
1st Grade:
· Wrote and drew in our journals daily
· This Week’s Theme: Let’s Build
· Read and acted out the fairy tale “The Three Little Pigs” and the nursery rhyme “London Bridge”
· Reading comprehension, retelling and cause/effect: The Town that Grew; Roy’s Rich Soil; The Birdhouse; Jenny’s Habitat; Sand Castle; Build With Sand and Ice
· Phonics/spelling: the sound of oi and oy as in soil and boy
· Learned about animals that live at the seashore, and about the lifecycle of a ladybug
· Math: continued our exploration of fractions, completed a progress check on this unit
